As we got closer to Aprils due date we made a few shorter trips close to home. Not much hiking on these trips but we all find it nice to be able to just sit back, relax, and enjoy the views from time to time.

Labor day weekend we made a last minute trip up to the Uintas where as expected there were people everywhere. We drove up a 4×4 road to Broadhead Meadows and found a great private campsite on the edge of the meadow. We spent the afternoon wandering around the Meadow and I shot a few star trails that night. Clyde Lake 8-2011

We hiked past the lily lakes, Cliff Lake, Petite Lake, Lake Waston, and finally made it to Clyde Lake just in time for sunset. Bowen 4yo was (as always) an amazing little hiker. I stopped at each lake to take a few photos and swat the mosquitoes. (more…)

We started our trip by parking my car at the Crystal Lake trail head then we drove up that road to the Bald Mountain pass. The was plan was to backpack around Notch Mountain, spend then night at Ibantik Lake, then hike down to my car at the Crystal Lake TH. The first few miles of trail were slightly downhill so we made great time and had excellent views. (more…)
