Bowknot Bend and Colonnade Arch

For our last desert trip of the 2007 we made a trip down to the Robbers Roost area. We drove on the dirt roads off of highway 24 for about one hour until we made it to the end to the end of the Keg Knoll Road. We parked the truck on the slick rock, soaked in the view and headed out towards Colonnade Arch and the Bow Knot Bend.

We made a mistake within the first mile of the hike, we dropped down off of the ridge far to soon. After we took a bit of time to get back on route we ran across this very unique rock formation. So we did get off track and wasted a bit of time but it was well worth it.

Soon after we were back on track headed out to Colonnade Arch.

With the help of a GPS we were able to find Colonnade Arch. This has to be one of my favorite Arches of all time, remote and a bit tricky to find.

We spent a bit of time at the Arch then headed out to get a view of the Bow Knot Bend of the Green river.

A few miles later we were getting closer to the far side of the Bow Knot Bend.

The hike back was much faster and darker then the trip out to the edge of the Bow Knot. Great time, glad we did it. I may even go back someday to try and find my chapstick.

Thanks again Clint for the steaks
