Tomsich Butte / Hondo Arch

Tomsich Butte is a spectacular area in the center of the San Rafael Swell. After a picture perfect drive down Reds Canyon the second vehicle in our party punctured a sidewall just as we parked near the cottonwood trees between Tomsich Butte and the Muddy Creek. With the help of a friendly couple and their dog Mac’s Brittney was able to get her spare on and pull into our campsite.
I was hoping to get some more photos of the mine’s in the area but with a flat tire and 25 miles of dirt roads to drive out on a mini-spare we opted to get and early start out of the area.
This was my first trip to the Tomsich butte and I am still kicking my self for driving past this area countless times over the past years. I already am making plans to head back later this fall when things in the swell cool down.

After we made it to pavement Brittney headed out to Green River to get her tire replaced while we headed out to Goblin Valley and Lower Straight wash.
