Upper Eardley Canyon

Clint and I were able to make a quick trip down to the swell this weekend to hike into upper Eardley Canyon (aka: Straight Wash). April and I made a few trips to explore Eardley five years ago and it was great to get back, this canyon is still one of the best in the entire swell.

We parked the truck at the edge of the WSA boundary near the end of the Hyde Draw road about 1:30 and started hiking down the side wash into upper Eardley canyon.

After climbing our way down into Eardley we started heading down canyon towards Hyde Draw.

The GPS said we had traveled 1.5 miles to Hyde Draw, we lost our connection at this point.

On the back up the canyon we passed our entrance point and tired the “second cliff dweller” route out of the canyon. We took the next drainage up canyon, it was a bit easier… but not much.
