Clint and I decided to make one last trip down to the swell for 2008. We left Orem early Friday morning and head up Spanish Fork Canyon, After getting gas in Wellington turn off highway 6 to fine the large concretions in the The Mounds area.
I tired my best to look cool but failed.

Next stop was Black Dragon Canyon. I had been to this canyon quite a few times over the years but had never heard of a cave until I read this recent post by coinslab. Directions were provided and we found it with no problems at all and It was rather shocking to see how close this collapsed alclove was to the main panel.
The entrance is in the center of this photo at the base of the large wall.

After the cave spent a big of time checking out a bit more of Black Dragon Canyon.

We wrapped things up in Black Dragon and drove south on the dirt roads along the San Rafael Reef towards Uneva Canyon. We spotted this huge Mountain Bike kicker off the side of the road that has been in quite a few videos such as New World Disorder 7.

After driving up the rough 4×4 road we arrived at the mouth of Uneva Canyon. We hiked up aways to check out the old abandon Uneva Mine. Uneva was very short but very interesting.

We spent about 2 hours exploring Uneva and soaking in the excellent views of the reef from the parking area. We still had a bit of daylight left so we made a quick trip out to near by Three Fingers Canyon. This is great canyon for rock art but other then that I was not very impressed. There was some neat little potholes filled with water and I tired to get some reflection shots but no of them really worked out.

The sun was setting and the clouds did not work out very well so we failed to get any decent sunset photos. We set up camp at Uneva and spent the night taking photos of stars before it got too cold and we called it a night.

Temp dropped into the 20’s during the night but we woke up to spectacular light on the San Rafael Reef. Took a bit of time to take some photos while packing up camp and a few more from the road on the way out.

We drove back to Green River to top off the tank and ate some pancakes and eggs. Soon we were back on I-70 heading up little Spotted Wolf Canyon to the Buckhorn Wash road. We made our next stop in the San Rafael river area to take photos of Assembly Hall and the old swinging bridge.

Next we drove down the Mexican Mountain road to the Upper Black Box Trail head. We hiked out a little over 1.5 miles and took a peak over the rim of the canyon to check out he river below.

After our short hike we traveled up BuckHorn wash towards the Wedge Overlook. We made a quick stop to check out the Dinosaur foot print off the side of the road.

Yet another quick stop at the MK tunnels and a near by overlook of upper BuckHorn wash.

Our final stop of our trip was the Wedge Overlook, there was only one other person with her dog at the Wedge. We hung out for a bit took some photos and watched a herd of 9 big horn sheep wander around the lower terrace of the Wedge before we headed home.

Not much hiking but an excellent trip none the less.
