This past weekend April and the kids were out of town so Clint and I got together for a camping trip up in the Uintas. We got of out work a bit early and started setting up our campsite near Trident Lake around 3pm on Friday. With plenty of time to kill before sunset we did a loop hike from our camp site to Beth , Rock, and Haystack lakes. The reflections were great and resulted in some pretty nice photos.

After our hike we had a bit to eat then drove up to Lost Lake to take photos of the sunset. The water level in the lake had dropped quite a bit in the last few weeks.

Due to lack of clouds the sunset was rather disappointing so we got our shots then headed back to camp. As night fell the clouds moved on and the moon was nowhere to be found, I don’t think the stars could have been any brighter. We spent the night wandering around the Trident Lake area taking long exposures of the skies.

We used two headlamps inside the tent to light it up.

About 30min of stacked exposures.

We woke up early Saturday morning and packed up camp. We drove to the Crystal Lake trail head and started our loop hike headed up towards Cliff lake.

We hiked back down from Clyde lake towards Johns then Wall Lake, there were plenty of people camped and fishing here. We made one last quick stop so that Clint could take a swim in the lake before we hiked the short trail back down to the car and headed home.
